A man has died after getting into difficulty in the water on the River Suir.

Gardaí said they were alerted to an incident in the Carrick on Suir area of Co Tipperary at around 8.30pm on Tuesday night.

His body was recovered from the river, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
