There was an aggravated burglary in Limerick in which the occupant of a house was confronted by a man wielding a knife.

It happened at a home in the O’Connell Avenue area of Limerick City, at around 8am.

A man burst into the premises and confronted the homeowner with a knife, before fleeing with a number of items.

No one was injured in the armed break-in, but the homeowner who was confronted by the burglar, was left shaken by the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and information.
