Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man was found unresponsive in Cork city in the early hours of Monday morning.

Emergency services and gardaí were alerted to the incident on Winthrop Street at 12.30am.

The injured man, in his 20s, was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.

Anyone with any information about the incident or was in the area between midnight and 1am on Monday morning are asked to contact gardaí.

Gardaí are particularly interested in anyone who may have camera footage, including dashcam, of the Winthrop Steet and Patrick Street area.
