The body of an adult teenager has been recovered following a multi-agency response to three people in difficulty off the Donegal coast.

Gardaí in Buncrana were alerted by the Coast Guard to a report of three males in difficulty in Lough Swilly at about 4pm on Saturday.

Two male juveniles were transferred to Letterkenny University Hospital, one of whom remains in a serious condition.

Following the recovery of the body of an adult male, aged in his teens, the search for the third male has since been stood down, gardaí said.

The local coroner has been notified and a postmortem is to be held.

The search was led by the Coast Guard, supported by a helicopter from Sligo.

The Donegal North units of An Garda Síochána and the ambulance service were also at the scene, while the RNLI also supported the search.
