Three men arrested in connection with a seizure of €500,000 worth of drugs and 200 rounds of firearm ammunition last Tuesday are to be charged in court Friday.

The operation, targeting a local organised drug gang, which was led by the Limerick Garda Divisional Drug Unit, saw armed officers stop and search a car and raid a unit at the Galvone Industrial Estate, Galvone.

The majority of the drugs, including cannabis and cocaine, along with the ammunition rounds, were located at the industrial unit in a follow up search operation.

Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit initially stopped a vehicle in the Galvone area and discovered cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €30,000 inside the vehicle.

A follow-up search was conducted at a nearby premises during which Gardaí recovered an estimated €350,000 worth of cannabis, €150,000 worth of cocaine, approximately €30,000 in cash, and close to 200 rounds of firearms ammunition and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Three men—two in their 40s and one in his 30s were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1996, at Garda stations in the Limerick Division and were charged Thursday night to appear in court Friday morning.

Gardaí said the investigation was “ongoing”.
