Weekend weather: Mix of sunshine and showers as Met Éireann forecasts change next week

Ireland is set to experience a mixed bag of weather this weekend, though Met Éireann is predicting mostly dry and warm conditions from early next week.

The national weather agency said it will be mainly dry on Saturday, and while there will be a little rain or some showers on Sunday, there will be good dry spells too.

Before that however, Met Éireann said Friday will be cloudy and wet with widespread rain, along with mist, and hill and coastal fog. The rain will slowly move eastwards, persisting in the east throughout the day. Sunny spells and scattered heavy showers will follow, which may cause spot flooding. Temperatures will peak between 11 to 16 degrees, warmest in Connacht and Munster.

Saturday will be a mainly dry, bright day with good spells of sunshine, according to Met Éireann. There will just be a few isolated showers and a slight chance that sea fog may encroach onto coastal parts of the east and southeast at times. It will become cloudier in the west in the evening, with highs of 14 to 17 degrees.

Met Éireann said there was some uncertainty in the forecast for Sunday. While it is likely to be cloudy for a time, with a little rain and some showers, it looks like it will become drier and brighter through the day, with some sunny spells developing. It will be a breezy day with highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees.

Monday promises to be mainly dry with high pressure starting to dominate. While it will be mostly cloudy for a time, some hazy spells of sunshine will develop and temperatures could rise to 18 degrees in some areas.

Met Éireann said the rest of the week is likely to be mostly dry with spells of warm sunshine.
