A motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car in Co Waterford.

The man aged in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the R634 at Ballydasoon near Youghal on the Cork-Waterford border.

The collision between the car and motorcycle happened shortly before 2pm.

The body of the man who died was taken to the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was transported to Cork University Hospital for assessment.

Garda forensic collision investigators were deployed to examine the scene of the collision.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
