A teenage boy is in a critical condition following an assault in Coolock in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred on Greencastle Park on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly after 3.30pm, the male teenager sustained serious injuries and was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
