Forestry staff are monitoring the aftermath of a large forest fire that broke out in Co Wicklow on Thursday night.

At around 8pm, fire crews from Bray and Greystones responded to a large fire in Djouce Woodlands.

The fire had spread through build ups of trees on embankments in the area.

Coillte staff assisted the fire brigade in bringing the fire under control well into the early hours of Friday morning.

Last week, fire services from across Ireland gathered in the Wicklow Mountains for a training exercise in dealing with wildfires.
