A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after several cars were reported damaged in Co Down near Belfast.

Police on patrol saw a vehicle travelling on the wrong side of the A2 outside Bangor at around 11.25am.

The PSNI said the vehicle, a silver MG, collided with several cars while travelling on the wrong side of the road outside Bangor.

Officers exited their vehicle and signalled to the driver to stop.

Police said the driver ignored their signals and continued towards Belfast.

Several members of the public reported that their cars were damaged by the vehicle before officers stopped the driver at a lay-by.

Two people have attended hospital for assessment.

Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
