Weekend weather: Brighter conditions to spread across the country on Friday

Met Éireann has indicated that brighter conditions will spread across the country this afternoon, with sunshine and some isolated showers forecast.

Highest temperatures on Friday will range from six to nine degrees with moderate northeast winds easing later. It will be cold tonight with clear spells.

There will be widespread frost along with some icy patches. However, some coastal areas will remain frost free with lowest temperatures of between minus three and plus two degrees in a light variable breeze with patchy mist and fog forming.

There will be a cold, frosty and sunny start to Saturday with any mist or fog patches clearing. It is due to be mainly dry with just isolated showers and spells of sunshine, though patchy cloud will build in the afternoon.

The highest temperatures will range from six to nine degrees in a light northeast or variable breeze.

It will be generally dry overnight on Saturday with a mix of clear spells and cloud. Where skies clear, there is the chance of some frost developing with lowest temperatures of minus one to plus four degrees in light northerly or variable winds.

It will be another mostly dry day on Sunday with a mix of cloud and spells of sunshine. The best of the sunshine is likely in the east and northeast of the country with highest temperatures of seven to 10 degrees in light northeast to east winds.

 It is expected to be mainly dry on Sunday night with variable amounts of cloud. A few light showers may drift onto some eastern and southern coasts with lowest temperatures of between zero and four degrees.

There will be a few light showers around on St Patrick’s Day on Monday. However, it will remain dry in most areas with more in the way of cloud than in preceding days with only occasional sunny spells. Highest temperatures of seven to 10 degrees are forecast.

It is set to be largely dry on Monday night apart from the chance of a few showers near the south coast with lowest temperatures of one to five degrees in moderate to fresh east or southeast winds.

Tuesday will be breezy but with good spells of sunshine are expected with highest temperatures of seven to 11 degrees.
