Gardaí on Monday are trying to establish a motive for an arson attack on a home and a car parked outside the residence, on the outskirts of Limerick City.

The petrol bombing occurred at The Meadows, Lower Park, Corbally, around 3 am.

Gardaí said that “no injuries” were reported following the fires.

A Garda spokesperson said: “An improvised device containing an accelerant was thrown at a car and a domestic residence.”

“A technical examination of the scene has been carried out by the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit.”

Appealing for witnesses, Gardaí also asked that “anyone who may have seen a black SUV in the Corbally area between 2:30 am and 3:30 am” to let Gardaí know.

“Gardaí are also requesting for anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage to contact them.”

The investigating gardaí can be contacted at the Mayorstone Park Garda Station on 061 456 980, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or via any Garda Station.
