A man has been arrested after gardaí pursued a stolen JCB in Co Carlow.

The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (Gsoc) is investigating after what's described as a "less than lethal device" was discharged by officers in the pursuit of the JCB.

The machinery was taken early on Wednesday morning from the Tullow area.

Gardaí say there was what they described as a "managed pursuit" involving officers and the public.

Gsoc says nobody was injured. A man was taken into custody following the incident.
