The Government is being urged to act on the pay demands of Section 39 workers.

It's after Siptu members backed strike action in the long running dispute.

The organisations provide services for people with disabilities, the elderly and other vulnerable groups.

Talks will take place on Monday at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) in a bid to resolve the pay row.

Siptu's Damian Ginley said there was overwhelming support for strike action.

Mr Ginley said: "Members across 21 organisations were balloted on this occasion, members voted in favour by 96 per cent for strike action.

"Our members work in a range of services from care of the elderly, GP out of hours, and disability services across the State."
