Poll: Do you think Valentine's Day is a marketing ploy or a time to rekindle love?

Eva Osborne

Valentine's Day will see shops running out of flowers, chocolates, and perhaps tubs of Ben & Jerry's for those with no plans.

For some couples, the day is a big deal and involves an elaborate date night involving a lot of money being spent. For others, a takeaway on the couch is all they need to celebrate.

There's no doubt Valentine's Day has been commodified to rake in an obscene amount of money each year, but the romantic element does not have to be lost.

So, do you think Valentine's Day is just a cynical corporate marketing ploy, or is it a time to rekindle love and embrace romance? Let us know by taking our poll!
