A man in his 30s who was arrested in connection with an incident of armed robbery in Dublin has since been charged and will appear in court on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Sunday in Ballymun, Co Dublin.

A man armed with a knife threatened staff at a shop on Marewood Crescent about 2pm, before escaping on foot.

Armed gardaí later arrested a man in the Sandyhill Gardens area.

A Garda spokesperson said "less than lethal force options were deployed" by officers during the arrest.

Gardaí said the man was questioned in connection with the incident as well as a number of similar robberies in recent days.
