A man has been left in a critical condition following a serious assault in Clonsilla, Dublin on Sunday.

Shortly after 11pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an incident at the entrance to the car park of a licensed premises on Clonsilla Road.

A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he remains in critical condition.

A man in his 20s has since been arrested and is currently detained at a Garda Station in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the premises at the time of the incident to come forward.

They are also appealing to anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dashcam footage from Clonsilla Road, between the junctions of Shelerin Road and Porterstown Road, at the time, to contact them.
