A man in his 40s has been charged after gardaí seized approximately €157,000 of controlled drugs following an operation in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí from the DMR North Central Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search of a house. During the course of this search, approximately €100,000 of cannabis and €57,000 crack cocaine was seized.

The drugs seized have been sent for further analysis.

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1996.

He was since charged and will appear before Court 4 of the Criminal Courts of Justice on Friday.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris in July 2021.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
