Some 593 patients were waiting on trolleys in hospitals around the country on Friday, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

The INMO said University Hospital Limerick had the worst overcrowding, with 91 patients waiting for a bed, followed by Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Galway, with 79 and 76 patients respectively.
