The fallout from Strom Éowyn is set to continue with freezing temperatures and strong winds expected over the weekend.

The orange wind warning for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow, and Munster is set to expire at 4pm on Friday, as thousands remain without power.

However, the unsettled weather will not end there, with a yellow wind warning for Donegal from 4pm until 11pm on Friday.

There is also a snow-ice warning issued for Donegal from 9pm Friday until 9am Saturday. Met Éireann says icy stretches and snow showers will lead to hazardous travelling conditions

In Northern Ireland, there is an orange wind warning for the six counties in place until 9pm on Friday night, with a yellow warning in place until 11:59pm.

There is also a yellow snow-ice warning from 7pm Friday until 10am Saturday.

Saturday will be cold and crisp with frost and icy patches. Early sunshine will be replaced by cloudier skies, as showery rain moves in from the Atlantic during the afternoon and early evening.

It will be a cold day with highest temperatures of three to seven degrees.

It will become wet and windy on Sunday, with a band of rain gradually spreading northeastwards through the morning and afternoon, some of it heavy and possibly thundery.

The rain will clear northeastwards later, but scattered showers will follow and with more persistent and heavy rain likely to move into the south and southeast in the evening.

Highest temperatures of six to 10 degrees in strong and gusty southeasterly winds, reaching gale force for a time in some coastal parts
