Three young men accused of Dublin steakhouse murder to discover fate next month

Three men will find out next month whether they are guilty of murdering a gunman who was beaten to death when he opened fire and fatally wounded Jason Hennessy Snr in a busy restaurant on Christmas Eve 2023.

Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo, presiding at the three-judge, non-jury Special Criminal Court, on Monday adjourned the case until February 17th, after telling the parties that the court is not yet in a position to deliver a judgment.

The trial, which took place last year, heard that Tristan Sherry and a second gunman entered Browne's Steakhouse in Blanchardstown on December 24th, 2023 where Jason Hennessy snr and about 30 others had gathered.

Sherry shot and fatally wounded Hennessy Snr before himself being dragged to the ground and beaten to death. The prosecution said Sherry died from blunt force injuries and stab wounds which were delivered while Sherry lay on the ground having been disarmed.

Defence lawyers suggested that their clients had acted out of fear, self-defence or under provocation due to Sherry coming into the restaurant and opening fire on a group of people, including children, who had gathered for a Christmas party.

Three men are charged with Sherry's murder. They are Noah Musueni (18), of Corduff Park, Blanchardstown; David Amah (19), of Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, Dublin; and Michael Andrecut (23), of Sheephill Avenue, Blanchardstown.

Jonas Kabangu (19), of Corduff Park, Blanchardstown, and 18-year-old Diarmuid O'Brien, of Corduff Place, Blanchardstown, are charged with violent disorder at the same location on that date.

Jason Hennessy's Snr's son, Brandon Hennessy (21), of Sheephill Avenue, Dublin 15 is also charged with violent disorder.

All accused have pleaded not guilty.
