Four people have been hospitalised following an overnight collision in Co Donegal.

Three men and a woman were rushed to hospital following the two-car crash outside the Inishowen town of Carndonagh.

The crash happened just before 7pm, close to Glentogher National School.

A number of emergency vehicles rushed to the scene to bring the injured to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí closed the road, the R240 between Quigley's Point and Carndonagh, for a number of hours to deal with the smash but the road has since reopened.
