First babies of 2025 arrive, with one born just 19 seconds after midnight

While many were celebrating the new year last night, others were celebrating for different reasons, with the first babies of the year being born around the country.

One of the first babies born in 2025 was born at just 19 seconds past midnight to parents Eve Colley and Eric Tyrell in the National Maternity Hospital.

The baby is their first child, a boy named Bradley, with mother and baby both doing well.

Elsewhere, Shannon Gibson from Cork City welcomed a baby boy called Rowan at 20 minutes past midnight at Cork University Maternity Hospital.

In Sligo University Hospital, Ornagh Burke and Ronan Cox welcomed a baby girl, at 3.54am, weighing seven pounds and 14 ounces.
