Tributes are being paid to a mother-of-three who died while out walking close to her home last Friday evening.

Marian Morgan, who was in her early 70s, was struck by a car at 6:30pm.

Emergency services including ambulances based in Carlow town and gardaí rushed to the scene along the N80 close junction 5 and Tinryland Football pitch. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Gardaí cordoned off the scene overnight to allow for forensic crash investigators to examine the crash site. Road traffic diversions were in place through Kellistown and Bennekerry into Carlow town.

A friend who worked with Ms Morgan, described her as being “an absolute lady” when working with her at Carlow County Council.

Mrs Morgan from Tinryland and Rathcrogue, Carlow, is survived by her husband Jim, daughters Jennifer and Kate, her son Peter and siblings Pat, Bernie, Morgan, Kevin, Laz, Paddy, Breda, Noleen, Gerry, Pauline, Angela, Damien, Tom and Nick.

She will be laid to rest following 11am Requiem Mass on Wednesday at St Joseph’s Church, Tinryland.

A sympathiser on rip.ie said: “I can say from my heart that it was a true pleasure and privilege having known and worked with Marian. She was like a mother and friend. I will miss her terribly. My deepest and utmost sympathies to the family. May she rest in eternal peace and smile upon us all from up high.”

Another friend added: “My heartfelt condolences to the Morgan and Costello families on the passing of Marion. It was always a pleasure to work with her, and she genuinely cared about everyone she met and interacted with”.
