A man has been seriously injured after an assault in Dublin city centre.

Gardaí are investigating the attack which occurred on Wexford Street during the early hours of Saturday morning.

A man aged in his early 20s is receiving treatment for serious injuries at Beaumont Hospital.

The scene of the incident has been examined by a local crime unit. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident is being asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station.
