A man has died in a house fire in Co Cavan.

The blaze broke out at around 10pm in Virginia last night.

The body of a man in his 80s was discovered at the scene, and has since been removed to Cavan Mortuary, where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The scene has been preserved as gardaí investigate the cause of the fire, but it is understood that they have ruled out foul play.
