Teenager charged over serious assault of man in Mullingar

A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a serious assault of a man in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Grove Street, Mullingar, on Saturday December 14th. On Wednesday, two 17-year-olds were arrested in connection to the incident.

One has been charged and is due to appear before Mullingar District Court.

A second 17-year-old youth arrested in connection with the incident has been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The victim remains in critical condition at Beaumont Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing.
