A man in his 30s remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was found with serious injuries in Mullingar in the early hours of Saturday morning.

It is understood the man was the victim of an assault in the town at around 1am on Saturday.

Gardaí say they discovered the man with serious injuries on Grove Street.

They are appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone with camera footage from Grove Street and the areas around it, between 12.30am and 1.30am, to make it available.
