A man aged in his 50s has died following a workplace accident in Kilkenny.

Emergency services and gardaí were alerted to the fatal accident at a premises on the Dublin Road, Kilkenny, Thursday last at 4pm.

In a statement gardaí confirmed that the man was “pronounced deceased at the scene”.

The statement said: “His body has been removed to the mortuary in University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.”

Gardaí added that the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) was notified and attended the scene and a file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.
