Gardaí in the Tipperary Division have arrested a man on suspicion of money laundering offences and seized approximately €100,000 cocaine and cannabis.

Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the M8 near Thurles shortly before 9:00pm on Tuesday. In the course of a search, over €27,000 in cash was discovered concealed in the vehicle. Electronic items were seized alongside a small quantity of cocaine.

The driver of the vehicle, a male in his 30s, was arrested and detained at a garda station in Co Tipperary.

In a follow-up search of a residence in Tipperary town later that evening, gardaí seized €70,000 of suspected cocaine and €30,000 of suspected cannabis. A significant amount of drugs paraphernalia was also seized.

On Wednesday, investigating gardaí seized a car in Limerick in connection with the money laundering investigation.

The man in his 30s has been charged and is due to appear before Nenagh District Court on Thursday.
