Some of the headline promises made by the main parties include:

  • Fine Gael wants to cut taxes by €7 billion and establish a savings account for every newborn in Ireland, which will have a State contribution of €1,000.
  • Fianna Fáil has pledged to reform health services and cut waiting times for patients, accelerate home building and decriminalise the possession of drugs for personal use.

  • The Social Democrats pledge the delivery of 50,000 affordable homes in the lifespan of the next government and the full implementation of the Sláintecare healthcare reforms.
  • Labour has proposed that parents would be able to take a full year of parental leave, as well as introducing pay-related maternity benefit.
