A man in his 40s is to be charged in connection with a robbery at a shop in Summerhill North in Cork city on Tuesday.

The incident occurred shortly after noon when a man entered the store and threatened staff with a knife before making off with a sum of cash.

Gardaí from Watercourse Road subsequently arrested a man.

He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Cork City and has since been charged.

He is scheduled to appear before Cork District Court on Wednesday. Investigations are ongoing.
