A man in his 20s has died in a road traffic collision in Co Cork.

The crash at Cecilstown involved two cars and occurred at approximately 5:10pm on Friday.

One driver was killed while the other, a man also aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and is being treated in Cork University Hospital.

The local coroner has been notified, and arrangements will now be made for a post-mortem examination, gardaí said.

The road remained closed overnight with a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to be completed on Saturday.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
