Man (50s) dies after being struck by a van in Co Cork

The man's body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital. A full forensic examination is due to be carried out in the area where he died.

A man in his 50s died after he was struck by a van in Glanmire, Co Cork on Thursday.

The accident happened at a premises near Church Hill at 5:15pm. Emergency services rushed to the area. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the morgue at Cork University Hospital. A full forensic examination is due to be carried out in the area where he died. The Coroner has been notified, and a postmortem will take place in due course.

The road from Barnavara Hill to Church Hill was closed following the incident. It is understood the man was working outside when the accident occurred.
