A male pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Co Clare.

The man, aged in his 30s, sustained fatal injuries in the collision in Kilkee at about 6.20pm on Thursday.

No one else was injured in the incident.

The local coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination is to be arranged.

The road was to remain closed overnight and a technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators was to be completed on Friday.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
