Man arrested after shotgun, €35,000 cocaine and cannabis found during search

A man has been arrested and a firearm, suspected cocaine and suspected cannabis were seized in Dublin 17 on Wednesday evening, November 6th.

During the course of an intelligence-led operation, gardaí from the Coolock Drugs Unit stopped and searched the man (20s) at a location in Priorswood.

A double-barrel shotgun and 0.5kg of suspected cocaine, worth an estimated €35,000 was seized. Suspected cannabis worth around €250 was also seized.

A Garda statement said that the firearm was made safe and will now be sent to the ballistics section of the Garda Technical Bureau to undergo analysis.

Meanwhile, the drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

The man was arrested and detained at a garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Investigations are ongoing.
