Nearly 600 admitted patients were waiting for beds on Tuesday morning, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

According to the INMO Trolley Watch, 432 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 162 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

At University Hospital Limerick, 120 patients are waiting for beds. 61 are waiting in the emergency department while 59 wait in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

77 patients are waiting for beds at Cork University Hospital. 66 are waiting in the emergency department and 11 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

At University Hospital Galway, 50 admitted patients are waiting for beds, and at Sligo University Hospital, 42 are waiting for beds.

43 admitted patients are waiting for beds at St Vincent's University Hospital, also all in the emergency department.

30 patients are waiting for beds at Beaumont Hospital, all in the emergency department.
