A third person has been arrested and charged in relation to an alleged incident of violent disorder in Deanscurragh, Co Longford last week.

The man in his 30s was detained at a garda station in Co Longford under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

He was subsequently charged and appeared before Longford District Court on Tuesday.

Two people appeared before Athlone District Court on Friday in relation to the alleged incident of violent disorder, which occurred on Thursday.

Searches were carried out at three residential properties and three people were subsequently arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the North Western Region.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 20s, were subsequently charged.

A second woman aged in her 20s was charged and is due to appear before Longford District Court at a later date.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
