More than 120 patients waiting for beds in Cork and Limerick hospitals

Some 121 admitted patients were waiting for beds on Tuesday morning in Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Limerick, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

The union's Trolley Watch showed 40 patients waiting in Cork University Hospital and 81 waiting in University Hospital Limerick.

In total, 471 patients are waiting for beds in Irish hospitals, with 357 waiting in the emergency department and 114 in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Last week, Cork University Hospital saw record levels of overcrowding, with a total of 98 patients on trolleys or chairs.

60 patients are waiting for beds in University Hospital Galway. 45 of these are in the emergency department, with 15 in wards elsewhere.

In Drogheda, 30 patients are waiting on beds in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. All of these patients are waiting in the emergency department.

In Sligo University Hospital, 23 patients are waiting on beds. 19 are waiting in the emergency department, with four waiting in wards elsewhere.

21 patients are waiting on beds in Mayo University Hospital, 10 of which are in the emergency department with 11 waiting in wards elsewhere.
