A 38-year-old man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of a Slovakian native last year.

Damian Szatkowski of Peachville, Kilshane, Dublin 11 appeared before the Central Criminal Court on Monday morning.

He was arraigned on a charge that he unlawfully killed Marcel Kusenda (47) in Newbridge, Co Kildare on or about March 8th 2023.

Garret Baker SC for the Director of Public Prosecutions said the plea is accepted. He said the victim's son lives in Slovakia and would like to make a statement to the court ahead of sentencing.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott adjourned the matter to December 9th and ordered a governor's report from the Midlands Prison, where Szatkowski is in custody.
