A man has been charged in connection with a shooting incident in Ennis, Co. Clare.

Gardaí responded to reports of gunshots outside a residential property on Lahinch Road, Ennis, on Friday night.

Damage was caused to the property, but no one was injured.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the time, and has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

During follow-up inquiries, a man aged in his 20s was subsequently arrested and has been held in a Garda station in Clare.

He has since been charged and will appear before Limerick District Court on Monday.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
