Cork and Waterford have been issued with a status yellow rain warning for Sunday evening.

Met Éireann says heavy and persistent rain will lead to spot flooding.

The warning is valid from 5pm until 11pm for Cork.

For Waterford, the warning kicks in at 6pm tomorrow and lasts until 2am on Monday.

There will be sunny spells and showery rain on Saturday, heaviest across Ulster.

Most areas will be dry from mid-afternoon with just well scattered showers following. Generally dry and clear this evening. Fresh with highs of 9 to 13 degrees, with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds.

Sunday will begin largely dry with hazy sunny spells.

However, cloud will gradually thicken with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing. During the evening, persistent and heavy rain will affect southern counties with spot flooding.

Highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees over the northern half of the country, 10 to 14 degrees further south, all in a light to moderate southeasterly breeze.

Met Éireann said overall the outlook is that there will be mixed conditions and will turn milder.

The last of the rain in the east will clear early on Monday morning with a mix of cloud, sunny spells and isolated showers following. Highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees, mildest in the southwest, with mostly light southerly winds.
