McDonald's Ireland is set to launch its first ever €8 meal deal on Wednesday, which will include four food items.

Customers will have two burger options: a cheeseburger or a mayo chicken burger, as well as medium fries, a medium soft drink and a bonus side of four chicken nuggets.

McDonald's said the meal deal items are "all strong fan favourites".

"No matter if you’re a beef lover or a chicken connoisseur, you’ll be able to choose either a cheeseburger or mayo chicken as your burger option," the fast-food chain said.

In September McDonald's extended its $5 (€4.55) meal deal in the US until December, in a bid to retain budget-conscious customers shying away from higher fast food prices.

Lower demand at US fast food restaurants has fuelled the pace of promotions, with Burger King-owner Restaurant Brands, Wendy's and Taco Bell all leaning on value meals to spark customer traffic.

McDonald’s said in August that it will open more than 200 restaurants across the UK and Ireland over the next four years in a plan set to create around 24,000 new jobs.
