593 patients were waiting for a bed in hospital on Thursday morning.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation's (INMO) Trolley watch figures show 441 patients were left waiting in emergency departments, while 152 were in wards.

There were a total of 93 of those patients in University Hospital Limerick, 82 in Cork University Hospital, and 53 at Galway University Hospital.
