Tributes paid as victims of fatal Mayo crash named

Tributes have been paid to been to two teenagers who died in a road traffic crash in Mayo on Friday night.

James Daniels (13) and Harry Fagan (19) suffered fatal injuries in the crash, in a collision involving a tractor and a car which occurred on the N83 at Levallyroe shortly after 8.00pm.

A third teenager in the car remains in hospital in serious condition.

The driver of the tractor, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Both Harry and James were members of Cloonfad United FC. In a statement yesterday, the club said: "As we gathered yesterday evening at our club grounds looking forward to another Senior game and both our boys and girls u11 teams just having completed their Friday evening schedule what unfolded has left the Cloonfad community in complete shock, numbness and disbelief.

"James Daniels was a member of our u14 squad that recently won the RDYSL Division One championship and he scored a number of goals during their campaign. James loved being with his teammates and friends and had a lovely friendly personality to match.

"Harry Fagan played for Cloonfad all the way through our underage program . Playing mostly in the midfield he always gave his best.

"Of course people involved in the game locally would be well aware of the Fagan name. They have given so much to our club in various different platforms and are so generous with their time to all local volunteer groups.

"Our hearts are broken for both families and we send our prayers and support to the Daniels, Cunniffe, Fagan, Moran and Reinhardt families."

Harry will repose at his home on Tuesday evening from 5pm to 8pm. House private at all other times. Funeral will arrive at St. Patrick's Church, Cloonfad on Wednesday for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in Cloonfad Cemetery.

James will be reposing at the PJ Keane Funeral Home, Cloonfad from 5pm to 7pm on Monday evening. Funeral arriving to St. Patrick's Church, Cloonfad, on Tuesday for Mass of the Resurrection at 12 noon followed by cremation in Shannon Crematorium at 4pm.
