The incident occurred in Mountjoy Square in Dublin city centre on Monday afternoon.

Members of the public were asked not to approach the vehicle.

Shortly before 4.20pm, the car was recovered from North Richmond Street after being discovered by gardaí on patrol.

The man aged in his 40s was arrested on Monday evening for an offence contrary to the Criminal Law (Jurisdiction) Act, 1976, the Unlawful Seizure of Vehicles.
