A man has been taken to hospital following a fire at a house in Cork in the early hours of this morning, and gardaí investigating the incident have arrested a woman in her 40s.

The fire broke out on College Road at around 1am this morning.

It was brought under control. However, there was extensive damage to the property.

The man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The woman is being questioned at a Garda station in the southern region, where she can be held for up to 24 hours.
