Winner of BT Young Scientist Exhibition 2024 to represent Ireland at EU Contest

The winner of the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2024 is to travel to Katowice, Poland, to represent Ireland at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists 2024 (EUCYS).

Seán O'Sullivan's winning project, VerifyMe: A new approach to the authorship attribution in the post-ChatGPT era, will be on display at the EUCYS from September 9th-14th.

Taoiseach Simon Harris met with Seán at Government Buildings, Merrion St Upper, Dublin, to wish him good luck before he officially represents Ireland at the competition.

Each year, the EUCYS showcases the best scientific achievements in the EU and beyond, and over the past 34 years, Ireland has won 17 first place prizes.

Winners of the BTYSTE 2023, Liam Carew and Shane O'Connor, took home the runner-up prize at EUCYS last year.

Seán said he is looking forward to competing against 250 young scientists from almost 40 countries throughout the EU as well as guest projects from the United States and beyond.
