A man has been arrested by gardaí in connection with a number of armed robberies in Dublin.

This followed reports of seven armed robberies of convenient stores and petrol stations in Rathmines, South Circular Road, Clondalkin and Ronanstown over a recent period.

This investigation involved Gardaí attached to Ballyfermot, Tallaght and Clondalkin Garda Stations.

The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested in Tallaght on Wednesday and is currently being held in a Garda station in Dublin.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
