Gardaí in Cork are investigating a suspected petrol bomb attack at a house on the northside of the city on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to a house at Mary Aiken Head Place in Gurranabraher at around 10pm on Monday.

When gardaí and two units of the Cork City Fire Brigade arrived at the scene they found that a device had been thrown through a window.

Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.

Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing to investigate a separate incident which occurred in the city last Friday.

Criminal damage occurred at a property in the Shanakiel area at 5.40pm on Friday.

A half an hour later, a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on the Churchfield Road in the city.

The pedestrian was later taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The motorcyclist and pillion passenger failed to remain at the scene.

A suspected firearm was subsequently seized by Gardaí. A man in his twenties was arrested afterwards. He was released without charge and a file was sent to the DPP.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to these incidents or road users with video footage to contact them.

Gardaí can be contacted at Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021 494 6200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing.
